experience necessary. you will gain valuable skills and construction
training from our Construction supervisor. Become a homeowner and you'll
never have to ask your landlord for another repair!
 Self-help
is a concept based upon the conviction that, given the proper tools,
individuals can and will do the work necessary to improve their living
conditions.
Self-Help Housing allows
individuals and families to use their labor ("sweat") as the down payment
on a new home that they otherwise could not afford.
Groups of families and individuals
work cooperatively with volunteers to help build each others
homes, similar to the barn raisers of yesterday. Along the way, they
gain many
benefits.
Umpqua CDC locates property on
which to build, assists you in making an application to a lender for a
construction loan, provides energy efficient house plans,
manages construction bill paying, and provides step-by-step construction
training and project management and oversight throughout the building process.
Homes are stick built and
will be Energy Star certified. Choose your own floor plan;
2-,
3-, or 4-bedroom. We can accommodate your ADA or visitability needs.
