Resident Services

Umpqua CDC has Resident Services Plans for each of its multifamily residential complexes, designed to suit the unique needs of each individual site. Each site features a Community Resource Center that provides information and access to local social services available to them. In addition, Financial Fitness workshops, the ABC’s of Homebuying class, and the DreamSavers program are offered, along with social gatherings, after school programs, and other activities and events.

Each holiday season, Umpqua CDC provides food, clothing, toys, and other items to all of its tenants. During NeighborWorks® Week our residents participate in community improvement activities, such as planting flowers at each site.

Umpqua CDC’s Resident Advisory Committee, composed of residents, managers, and community leaders, focuses on developing leadership skills and advising Umpqua CDC’s Board of Directors on resident issues. They are informed of Board issues and proceedings, enabling them to pass this information on to tenants. The Advisory Committee helps to develop onsite community plans addressing the needs of each complex, and makes recommendations for programs, amenities, and services for new housing developments.

Every other year, members of the Advisory Committee are offered Community Leadership Training through NeighborWorks® America. This enables resident members the opportunity to travel to sites across the country in order to network and brainstorm with residents from the Western States Region. Participants learn how others deal with similar issues to take a pro-active role in their communities. This October, our group will be traveling to Houston, Texas, for training.
